Description 1975 Polaris TC250

Here is, My 1974 Polaris TC 250

I bought this from Paul for my son, Casey. He's a little young for it right now but I'll have a couple of years to clean the sled up before he gets it for Christmas. According to Steve Freeman, The TC was produced in the later part of 1974 so with a 73 dataplate, mine is probably a 74 model.
The TC is a cute little sled with a very low CG and a short chassis. It's capable of carrying an adult male, but it feels like a child's sled. The 244 single is the same powerplant that is in the 1990 Polaris Starlite Indy, but doesn't feel as strong as the Starlite. I think the power difference is caused by the intake manifold between the TC's carb and cylinder. The Starlite Indy has the same carburator, but it is directly mounted to the cylinder. Some of the interesting features of this model include, an all rubber track, bogey wheel suspension, and a fold down windshield. Other Specifications can be found on my TC Specifications page
Overall, the TC was in good shape. It didn't require any work on my part to get it running, but Paul had done some work on it before I bought it. Right now, my plan is to rewire the whole sled, repair some dents and welds in the chassis, replace some minor parts, and custom paint the whole sled. I plan to limit the throttle before I give it to my son. The sled is much more capable than a Kitty Kat, and should keep Casey interested and keep up with his skill level for several years. As his confidence and skill levels increase, I'll give him a little more throttle, just enough to keep him challenged.
Right now the hood is off and the engine is out. I've sanded out all of the age cracks in the white gelcoat and it's ready to have a few layers of fiberglass added to the thin spots. I cleaned up the engine, and it's ready to be reinstalled as soon as the sled is rewired and the chassis work is finished. I haven't decided on a final paint scheme yet, suffice to say it will not be the original blue and white. I'm open to suggestions!
