| Belgium Sucks!
Hawk proprietor Gregory Sears of W. Sears Seafoods finally fulfilled a 20-year ambition this past week when he visited the European Seafood Exposition in Brussels, Belgium. Most of Mr. Sears' comments on his Belgian experience were not fit for release, but it must be noted that Sears, who's been rumoured to have a passion for fine cuisine, was delighted to finally have a Canadian beans-and-weiners mug-up again. "Belgians? They couldn't squeeze an egg out of a chicken!"

Survive Her! |
| For any of you who missed it, CBS ended their Survivor All-Stars season during an emotional 3-hour finale on Sunday. Big Tom made an ass out of himself, romance flooded the air, and Boston Rob won even though he lost. A past Mark Burnett correspondent, the Hawk Road wishes to congratulate the producer on a tough television triumph, offering commercial slots over a 180 minute marathon. Welcome the Summer-time with the hope that Autumn will reveal additional television epics. |
"As our mothers and grandmothers have, more often than not anonymously, handed on the creative spark, the seed of the flower they themselves never hoped to see- or like a sealed letter they could not plainly read." -Alice Walker |

| Turn, Pike! |
Richard Hiltz, a Port Clyde native, is hoping to reel in a Canadian record. Hiltz dangled his minnow in front of a monster chain pickerel in Western Duck Pond near Belleville 2 weeks ago...and it fell for it! When scale met scale, the "crispy" razor-toothed fish weighed in at an unofficial 5.7 lbs, with the 2-year Canadian record standing at 5.2 lbs. A dip-net officially ended the fight, but friends say the experienced woodsman may well have landed the pike with his bare teeth.
