Arena's Farewell!
                 ..................
Ends With Ends!

The last Arena Dance of the year was a hit saturday night as "22 Ends" kept the 700-plus partiers on their toes, remaining flawless during their summer marathon of bookings. With a marked table for Hawk Roaders, a website banner, and several plugs over the mic, the member list jumped sharply up on Sunday. There were also Hawk Road cards in circulation, and anyone who dropped one with Angela Wolf's phone number on back can write to hawkroad@mac.com for the last four digits.

Willis All Fit?
Dedicated to stranded Hawkers, Willis the local taxi guru once again came through in a pinch. After filling his cab at the end of The Hawk Road, he daringly avoided a deer near Crowell's Store and told questioning police at the road block that he had to go after his cell phone rang. When the Dance finished, he loyally reserved his service for those furthest away, staying focussed as George, after phoning on behalf of those inside, chased the taxi as it left.
The recent addition of a chat room to The Hawk Road has frustrated many in the younger age group, targeted as being "Tinkas" by those further along in years than them. The official age of a Tinka varies, with anyone from fourteen to nineteen typically being singled out. Descriptions of a Tinka tend to include those hanging out at the Shell garage in Clark's Harbour as well as any girl not invited to this week's Party On The Hill at Scrabbly Jack Skroncha's temporarily vacant house.

Shucks, Stretch!
Hawk Road celebrity, Stretch, attended the Dance in high spirits, recalling vintage influences from The Beetles and a time when you lived day to day to get by. Stretch also mentioned his desire to give Calf Island a make-over, involving a resort and a smaller shack that he could retreat to for a nap when things got hectic. Stretch invited party-goers to join him at the wharf the next day but only Lobsta Mobsta showed, leaving with a bag of scallops later enjoyed by many "good-naytchad" Hawkers!
