Gaga

I'm coming back to say that I was not a true Lady Gaga fan until 3 nights ago. Her horrifying VMA performance and wardrobe changes were what did it. She is an installation artist, and I love me some art installations.

From a recent interview with Newsweek:

"It's less of me singing the song, and more of an art installation. A performance-art piece. It's very well-designed and thought out, and we've been planning it for months and months. It is for me a very meaningful performance, [for] where I am in my career, as well as the experiences I've had, as well as the co-headlining tour I'm going on in the fall. […] I sort of have this philosophy about things: there's never a reason to do something unless it's going to be memorable, unless it's going to change things, unless it's going to inspire a movement. With the song and with the performance, I hope to say something very grave about fame and the price of it."

Please note –– she's genius. I would post her performance here, but it's currently being hunted down and removed from Youtube by MTV.

VMAs

MTV VMAs were an amazing show, really impressed.

Highlights:

1. Beyoncé's performance was quite possibly the fiercest thing I've ever seen. I was actually kinda scared.

2. Lady Gaga's performance was royally disturbing (as were her multiple outfits throughout the evening), but I ate it up. F'd up performance art / living art installation = confuse the shit outta people = AWESOME.

3. Pink's performance was amazing, I love her. She's incredibly gorgeous + I love her small (thus, gravity defying) boobs!

4. Madonna's MJ eulogy literally had me crying. The montage / dance tribute was amazing. JJ was amazing performing Scream / I love how they'd removed her from the video screen and had her instead standing in place performing live.

5. Love love looooove Beyonce for being such a classy lady and handing the mic to Taylor Swift when she herself had won for video of the year.
