Inclement Weather: Call Hotline & Check Website Before Every Practice
The first winter weather watch has been issued for this season and may affect practices. So it makes it a good time to remind everyone to check the hotline message before leaving for practice. With enough notice, the website may be updated with cancellations or changes, but the hotline is primary and most urgent medium to get the word out. This means you should check this often and especially before heading out of the house:

2009-10 Season Begins: Practices Begin This Week; Teams Named
Well it's finally here! The 2009-10 season has officially begun with practices beginning this week. Just about every team has been completely filled and were ready to get started. Thanks for everyone's patience during this process. We are a club that offers spots on a team based on tryouts and not just an offer to the club. It is a slightly longer process but we feel it's more fair to all involved.
To all of those who tried out and did not make a team, we would have loved to have you but space limitations required us to make cuts this year. One option is to check with other area clubs to see if they have any openings. We hate to see players not playing. Best of luck and see you at tryouts next year. The other option is to sign on with us as a practice player. For only $600, we will have special practices and teams at a lower cost while still receiving training by members of the experienced P3R coaching staff. Info for practice players will be posted soon so check back here later for that.
For those who have made a team, please make sure that all your paperwork, deposit and registration is complete and submitted. You will not be able to practice without it. See the post below for more info. Check the website frequently for practice times on our Calendar page and other important information. We are especially proud this year of not only our 13 teams (a club record) or our quality coaching staff, but the great level of talent that we have to work with. Looking forward to another successful year. Keeping with the new tradition of the bridges over our "Three Rivers," team names are posted below with the head coach for that team:

Summer Updates: Teams return from Nationals; Club players selected for top camps
JO Nationals: Top Flight performances from Miami
 |
The P3R 17 Hot Metal team kicked off the National Championships but ran into a buzzsaw of talent and barely winning one of their first seven matches and dropping a few heartbreakers in the third set. They rebounded in the challenge round and into playoffs but then losing to Northside Out in the Flight #6 finals in another close one. The 18 Fort Duquesne team ran into a similar situation by dropping their first six matches but then turning the tide to win four-straight and winning the finals of Flight #4 against Asics MAVS. Congratulations to both teams for tremendous seasons and prestigious trips to the big show. P3R was the ONLY area club to have ANY teams qualify for nationals in the last 2 years sending one last year and TWO this year. Impressive work, ladies. Good luck to all seniors as you move on to your college careers!!!
Two P3R players seleted for top USAV programs
Congratulations to P3R players Alex Karika and Amanda Schiavo! Alex was selected to the Keystone region's High Performance Select Team that will represent the region in the 2009 USAV High Performance National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale in late July. Alex set the 18 Ft. Duquesne team to a Shamrock Festival win and earned a bid to nationals in Miami while only in 9th Grade. Amanda was selected to attend the USAV Girls Select Training Camp at a tryout in Columbus earlier this year. She played for Coach Bruno's 14 Smithfield team this year as an outide hitter but was selected to the camp as a libero. She is attending the camp at Davidson College in North Carolina in late July.
