InSpa members have completed several
community projects to date with more planned. In November 2004 members of InSpa
helped the Connexions Group based at Pateley Bridge redecorate the Methodist
Church Hall. The hall is used intensively by the local community and local
youth groups and was in desperate need of a fresh look. In a joint effort
with the local community InSpa took on the challenge. In just two days the
hall was transformed to the delight of its users. In March 2005 InSpa took on and
defeated possibly the smelliest pond in the North of England! Holy Rood
House, Thirsk, is a centre for Health and Pastoral care were people come to
relax, heal and refresh themselves away from the pressures of the world. Surrounding the house are tranquil
gardens and a fish pond. Unfortunately due to an over zealous Heron, the
lining of the pond was damaged. InSpa was asked if it could help out. In two
days through rain, hail, snow and sunshine, normal British weather the job was
completed. The pond was carefully drained and cleared of mud, plants and
animals. New linings were laid and the pond re-flagged. Members of InSpa will be trying
their hand at dry stone walling and other projects very soon.
