“Artistry In The Skies: F-35 Lightning II on Exhibit”

In April 2007 I am contacted by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics with the question if I am interested by taken part in a new project to put my (Dutch) vision on canvas of the F-35A Lightning II (the conventional land version). The plan was to show my painting together with 8 others (every partner country in this Joint Striker Fighter project).

During the full caught briefing on June 20th 2007 news conference about the F-35 at Le Bourget Paris Airshow, all the paintings are being unveiled and exposited.

I was very honored to be a part in this plan.

Brigadier General Charles R. Davis of the Air Force, the program executive director and Charles T. Burbage executive Vice President and General Manager clarified the state of the art and about how huge this whole F-35 project is.

The evening before on Tuesday all the artists first met in the hotel for a warm welcome during a pre-briefing and a diner. We all shared our individual aviation stories.
The artists from the following countries where involved in this project:

USA - Jim Laurier
UK - Alex Hamilton
Italy - Roberto Zanella
Holland - Henk Uitslag
Canada - Robert Lundquist
Turkey - Mustafa Muftuoglu
Australia - David Marshall
Denmark - Johannes Moller
Norway - Mark Postlethwaite (artist from the UK)

After the official briefing on Wednesday we had one amazing hour talking and having interviews with the press and executives. I was very honored to have a word with Chief Test Pilot Jon S. Beesley. He says he has made his first flying skills in a fighter flying above the background I have painted.
It was amazing to see how every artist has made a painting from the same F-35 with his point of few and approach.

In the evening we had with each other a superb diner hosted by Lockheed Martin.

I have to thank Lydia Cole for all the kindness and good organizing during this unique event. Also I have to thank all the other artists for the pleasant conversations. We have taken farewell of each other as friends.

A special thank to Lockheed Martin for having the courage to make this new approach of making clear to the world this way that this whole JSF multi-country project is unique and thirst in its kind.

03 June 2007

I’ve got a little bit sad feeling today.
This morning the last six F-16 fighter jets flew away for departure to Chilly.
So Airbase Twente is closing down.

I stood near the airstrip when the planes took off. With this last take off there is flying away a whole lot of history.

Yes I've done it!
I've just opened my first online shop.
From now on you can buy online one of the limited editions prints.

These limited editions are so called Glicée-prints.
Glicée-prints are almost lookalikes on canvas of the original painting.
They are all high quality prints and exclusively numbered and signed by me.

Other news:
From 19 till 21 June I am visiting the International Paris Air show for some commissioned work and to make some new contacts.
I will meet some other inter...
