A tunnel

Got back the SASE I enclosed with the request for my marriage license today, so that was a nice surprise. About a week earlier than I expected.

Inside the envelope? Not so nice. Turns out Philadelphia's web page indicating the fees hasn't been updated in at least a year. It said I needed to send two $15 checks made out to different payees. Didn't say who the second one was, so we called, asked about "the $15 checks" and found out who the second payee was without actually being corrected about the amount. So today's envelope had my checks and a letter indicating that I hadn't sent in enough money. And oh, by the way, both checks are to be made to the payee identified on the web page.

I called for clarification just to make sure I had everything for attempt #2. What I found out:
1. Actually the letter is wrong about the payee. Both checks are supposed to be made to the same entity, but not the letter and web page say. Nor, for that matter, the one we were told on the phone.
2. They get a lot of complaints about these errors.

The second request goes in the mail tomorrow.
