U and Me
A pet peeve rears its ugly
head.
Dear Diary: It happened again today. One of those
popular turns of phrase that people toss off apparently to dress up their lack
of logic in good clothes. Today's winner: "Questionable event A was observed.
Undesirable event B was observed shortly thereafter.
I can only assume that B was a result of
A."
That's wrong. There are approximately 138
other things you could have assumed, many of which would actually have been more
likely than the one you chose
to. Or is it possible that there are some
people so lacking in both imagination and deductive reasoning that there really
is only one conclusion they are capable of coming to for a given sequence of
events?
