Customer Alert

Roughly between October 8 and October 13, PayPal was experiencing difficulties in transaction processing severe enough that it was easier to characterize their uptime as intermittent rather than the troubles themselves. If you sent a license fee for Compost in this period and have not received a license code I have not received your payment. Please check your PayPal account — both history and balance — to make sure you were not inappropriately charged. I am investigating other means of accepting payment, and would appreciate suggestions regarding other processors. Thank you for your understanding.

Mac OS

Package Size Description
LaunchStrip 8k LaunchStrip is a less-obtrusive replace for the Launcher control panel included with MacOS. Put it in the Control Strip Modules folder in your system folder, and you'll have a menu of everything in the Launcher Items folder in a handy, out-of-the-way spot.
WakieWakie 8k WakieWakie is a faceless background application that opens/launches the contents of a folder when your Mac is woken up. Think of it as a parallel to the Startup Items mechanism. Now Location Manager aware.

Mac OS X

Package Size Description
Compost 268k Compost is a utility suite that enhances the MacOS trash can. Read more about Compost here.
DateService 11k DateService is a plugin for the Mac OS X Services submenu that most modern applications make available under the main application menu. DateService adds commands to insert the current date or time in any of the user-specified formats configured in System Preferences' International settings. It's a universal binary for Mac OS X 10.3 and up. If someone wants support for 10.2, feel free to write. Donationware.
DenyThumbDrives 107k DenyThumbDrives is a background application to help administrators of public terminals maintain the integrity of their systems. Basically all it does is watch for attempts to mount small, local volumes like the common USB thumb drive, and immediately eject them. Version 2.1 adds the option to allow or disallow media by size range, and is a universal binary. Freeware. Read more about DenyThumbDrives here.
DockArt 28k DockArt is an iTunes plugin, the sole purpose of which is to display the embedded album art for the currently-playing iTunes track in the dock. It was written in response to a request seen on Usenet. Version 1.1 supports external artwork and fixes some minor bugs. Freeware. Read more about DockArt here.
FadingImages 88k FadingImages is a screensaver plugin that displays the images from a folder, iPhoto album or iTunes 7 CoverFlow database scattered all over your screen and fades them out, to be replaced by new images. Alternatively it mimics the old favorite startfield, with images flying past you. Postcardware. Read more about FadingImages here.
FileCutter 84k FileCutter enhances the Finder context menu to let you cut and paste files (rather than just copy and paste) and lets you paste an alias to a copied file. Shareware: $5.00.
SaverPreview 76k SaverPreview is a simple tool for previewing screensavers on Mac OS X without having to install them first. It also lets you run several side-by-side. Could be useful for screen saver authors. Donationware.
Silica 243k Silica is a heads-up display for Caller ID under Mac OS X 10.3 and higher. It's unobtrusive and (obviously) I think it's handy. Freeware. Read more about Silica here.
TrimTheFat 104k A simple utility to strip foreign architecture support out of universal binaries. Freeware.
Volumizer 45k A utility to provde easy access to you disks when the desktop is obscured. Donationware. Read more about Volumizer here.
WebArchive Folderizer 20k A drop-launch utility to extract the content from Safari webarchives. Freeware.

PalmOS

Package Size Description
Magz 10k Magz is a checklist for collectors of any periodically released serial. The best example is a magazine. This is not a full-service collection management database, but it's a handy pocket reference if you go around to yard sales, etc. Quick documentation is available here
Spinner 23k Spinner is just a little toy I wrote that simulates a spinner as might be found in several children's games as an alternative to dice. You can control how many segments the field is composed of, so you could argue that this is something of a decision-making tool. I wouldn't, though. You can also control the friction of the spinner, impacting how long it takes to come to a stop. Version 1.2 highlights the winning number and uses a 3rd party shared library for its math routines.
