It's Called a Blog, Not a Daily DiaryOr, How I can come up with excuses for not saying
anything in, like, forever.
Guilty as
charged.
Dave called me out on it today, fearing for my physical well-being. And rightly so. What has caused the radio silence? Well, I've been trying to hash that out, actually. Here are some reasons. First, I typically blog when I get my dander up about something. And, frankly, so much evil has been happening to those I don't like, that I'm pretty content really. My favorite upcoming scandal is the one involving hookers...possibly gay hookers. Oh please, oh please make it happen. And, yes, I certainly could have discussed the Colbert speech, like many others did. I read the transcript, saw the clip, read the non-coverage, and then read the subsequent outcry. I think my silence on that score was that I'm not a huge fan of Colbert's shtick. I see the funny, but it just ultimately grates on me. Don't think I'm not using it for my satire course next year though. Second, there is the end of the school year thing, though I'm not really going to depend upon that one for much. I am only teaching one class, but there are tons of little year-end things to tidy up, not least of which is Commencement, at which I will be handing the President the diplomas before he hands them to the graduates in my role as interim faculty secretary. Yes, I'm stressed. Oh, and I got my contract for next year in the mail: I'm employed through next June! Hurrah! Third, not a ton has been going on. We've agreed to pay some people some $14,000 to re-do our bathroom, which will be commencing in about a month. We went to AC and cleared the place out, with each of us getting our first royal flushes, and me clearing $2k and Rick $1k. Many benefits resulted (we're at the Diamond level in the Harrah's club now) and we enjoy them. We're obsessively planning our forthcoming Vegas trip. Other than that, we're not really doing much of anything. Rick is working his tail off and I'm getting burned out on choir (stupid queens). Life is life. And, I know, at many points I've said that I will blog more, but there's another aspect: baseball. With many games starting at 10p, which had historically been prime blogging hours, I'm otherwise engaged, and oftentimes overtired. Excuses, excuses. Well, I promise to report back from Commencement, which should be...interesting. Posted: Tue - May 9, 2006 at 11:06 PM | |
