Smorgasbord 


I have too many things to unload, so let me just get rid of them all. 

• After the Oscar noms, there were cries of "damn liberals" from sad little right-wingers everywhere. The kung fu monkey takes on one of them in one of the most entertaining dressing-downs I have read in a while. 
• Something to think about from this article and Matt Yglesias's related note: we all know that the Best Pictures don't usually turn out to be the best, but the winners of the Best Screenplay do--so much for auteurs. 
• I'm doing quite well with my smobriety still, and thanks for all the support. (read through the rest of that site; one of my other favorites is furkid.) 
• And why wasn't I watching this instead of the Seahawks debacle? I won't even get into the ref situation, which was ridiculous. Let it suffice to say that pitchers and catchers report in seven days and seventeen hours.
