Pre-Oscar Nomination Oscar Nomination Picks

Heh. That's a good title.

I mean, I'm just getting this in under the gun, but here goes.

I will include my previous picks for reference. I know you care.

Actor
• Before: Fiennes, Hoffman, Ledger, Phoenix, Straitharn
• Now: Terrence Howard for Hustle and Flow replaces Ralph (*sniff*), but the rest remain. It really doesn't matter though, bc PSH has the Oscar locked. And, having seen Capote this weekend (B+ overall), he probably deserves it...though the award is probably an early career award since his body of work is overall incredible

Actress
• Before: Dench, Huffman, Witherspoon
• Now: The same, + Theron for North Country and Knightley for P&P. Here's my thinking here. Ziyi Zhang (for Geisha) and Joan Allen (for The Upside of Anger) have been getting a lot of buzz, but Geisha has dropped like a rock since Zhang's noms came out and Allen hasn't received any buzz, even if she is popular with voters. At the same time, KK and P&P continue to be thought of highly. Doesn't really matter because it's between Felicity and Reese, with I think Reese pulling it out.

Picture
• Before: Brokeback, Capote, Crash, Munich, Walk the Line
• Now: I'm replacing Munich with Good Night, and Good Luck. I don't know that Munich has been receiving good enough buzz or reviews to merit inclusion. I don't know though. All I do know is that Brokeback should still win

Bonus Picks!
• Supporting Actress: Bello, Johansson, Keener, Weisz, Williams. Bones thrown at History of Violence, Match Point, and Constant Gardener, though Weisz is the front-runner in sweeping Globes and SAGs. However, don't count out Williams, especially if the boys don't win for Brokeback.
• Supporting Actor: Clooney, Cheadle, Dillon, Giamatti, Gyllenhaal. With Giamatti winning a SAG, Clooney's run seems less likely. And, don't count out Cheadle or Dillon for Crash, though they may cancel each other out.

Can't wait for tomorrow!
