Happy Humpday: The Random Ten

2nd Edition

Nice selection today:

1) "The Want of a Nail," The Company, Camp (5 stars): so, this movie isn't really that good, but gosh darn it if it doesn't have its entertaining moments, and gosh darn it if this movie-ending song isn't one of them. I could seriously listen to this on continuous repeat. And, yes, I'm gay.

2) "Faster Than Light," Neil Finn, Try Whistling This (4 stars): Oh Neil, how much do I love thee? A lot. For some reason, the lyric "In England, it's morning," just makes me get shivers. Also, "and praise will those whose kindness leaves you without debt." Just a nice mellow song, probably intended for his son...Makes me think I should create a playlist of parent/child songs, including Rufus's "Beauty Mark."

3) "Roxanne," The Police, Greatest Hits (1 stars): In case you didn't know, Rick is the king of greatest hits CDs. This didn't get that high of a rating, mainly bc I don't want to listen to it a lot, not because I hate it.

4) "I Like It There," Prince, Chaos and Disorder (2 stars): Such a random CD. This is one of those Prince songs that gets a little old, fairly quickly.

5) "Spit on a Stranger," Nickel Creek, This Side (4 stars): I confess that I don't really know what the hell they mean by spitting on a stranger (I mean, I guess that he's just really pissed off at a love jilting him), but I just love these kids.

6) "Half a Person," The Smiths, The Best (3 stars): "Call me morbid." OK, you're morbid. Great chorus.

7) "No More," Roni Size, Return to V (4 stars): If you don't know him, it's drum and bass at some of its finest; New Forms is one of the best CDs of its kind, ever. This is a political little song that is more earnest than I usually like, but it has a great vocalist and chorus--very R&B actually.

8) "Do You Feel Like I Feel?", Belinda Carlisle, Greatest Hits (2 stars): see #3 above.

9) "Both Belong," The Grays, Ro Sham Bo (4 stars): One-album offshoot of members of various bands, including Jellyfish. This song features the great Jason Falkner, who really needs to come out with another album. I need to look him up.

10) "Kiss That Frog," Peter Gabriel, Us (2 stars): As with many of his songs, this one goes on far too long. Not the best, but listenable.
