March of the Penguins

Um, cuter?

We had been wanting to see March of the Penguins for a while, but since it hadn't been out of Philly, we had put it off. However, when Mom arrived, and we were down there anyway and she was up for it, we finally saw it at the Ritz.

Really, there's not much to say about documentaries in a way--not much to analyze, especially if they aren't political or trying to convince you of something. That being said, the film is beautiful, inspiring, and interesting. The march is this feat of nature--an amazing journey that could stand in for any number of struggles by various animals which we might see as extraordinary, but to them are just the way it is.

And, really, who doesn't want to see penguins (and baby penguins!) for 90 minutes?

I wasn't as blown away by the cinematography as I was by Winged Migration, but it's still impressive and appropriate. Go see it.
