Idris on Parinella and Zaz's Book
Idris is running an "Ultimate Techniques and
Tactics" book club in Santa Cruz. It consists of reading some chapters and
then one day doing some drills focusing on ideas present in those chapters. I'm
trying to figure out if there is any interest in doing something similar around
here. Anyways, this is Idris's response to why you should by the
book:
at the super bowl party i was at
tonight i was asked if there was any
reason
to buy the book, after all they could just learn it all from me.
to that i would tell
people:
1. it only costs
~$15 from amazon.
2. i won't
go over every thing in the
book.
3. you'll forget stuff
that is taught and will need the book as a
reference.
4.
part of the reason i do all this is to bring attention to this book
to get people to buy it, to
increase the likelyhood of a 2nd, 3rd, and
4th editions, so frisbee
players come out of the
dark.
5. its $15, people spend
that 5x over on cleats alone. with this book,
you could beat an opponent
barefooted and save $60.
6. if
you still don't want to buy the book, i will charge $15 to any
person who gains any insight
to ultimate because of something i said.
i'll then take that $15 and
buy a book for a young, dumb, athletic
frisbee guy or girl. within 2
months they will be captaining the team
you want to play for. and
you'll be like... "damn, wish i would have
just bought the
book."
