Collected thoughts
I jotted these things down in my notebook the
other day.
1) Let the offensive system
help you beat your defender. It not just you versus him, there are 6 other
players on the field that can help you get open by clearing space, breaking the
mark or otherwise moving the disc.
2)
Let the defensive system help you defend the offensive player your cutting.
Depending what type of defensive we're running, you have different
responsibilities , be it in cuts or open side cuts. Focus on taking those away,
and the other defenders will have take away the other
things.
3) If you focus on your
defender too much, you will lose awareness of the field, the disc, and the
thrower. Your focus must be balance on all four of these
things.
4) Attack open space not your
defender.
