When: Saturday, November 6, 2004 from 12 pm until approximately 5 pm.
Where: Game Kastle in Santa Clara, CA. See below for address & directions.
Cost: $5
Format: 100 point Constructed on the Death Star map.
Build a single 100 point squad using the normal squad construction rules. (Do not build both a Rebel and an Imperial squad. You only need one squad. As a result, some matches may feature two Rebel squads or two Imperial squads facing off against one another.) As usual, Fringe characters can be included in any squad. Even if your squad is comprised entirely of Fringe characters, you must still designate your squad as either Rebel or Imperial.
All skirmishes will take place on the Death Star side of the battle grid. Terrain tiles will not be used. In Rebel vs. Imperial matchups, follow the normal setup rules: The Rebel player sets up first in the Hangar Bay, then the Imperial player sets up in the turbolifts. In Rebel vs. Rebel matchups or Imperial vs. Imperial matchups, players each roll d20. The high roller decides which player sets up first in the Hangar Bay.
Rounds: Approximately three to five swiss rounds, depending on the number of players. All rounds have a 60 minute time limit.
Prizes: Most of the entry fees will go toward prizes, which will all be put into a prize pool. The pool will contain at least one prize per player. The bulk of the prize pool will be brand new single minis from one or more boosters bought with the entry fees. Depending on the number of players, the prize pool may also include one or more sealed boosters. The first place player gets to choose first from the prize pool, the second place player chooses second, and so on down to the last place player. Then prize selection begins again, this time starting with the last place player and moving to the first place player. (This means the last place player gets two selections in a row.) Continue this back and forth selection process until all prizes are gone.
Contact/Organizer/Judge: Guy Fullerton (guyf@apple.com). Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Notes: Tournament details are subject to change. Don't forget to bring your squad, stat cards, dice, battle grid, and counters. Though this event is not DCI sanctioned, I will be following some of the DCI tournament rules and/or the D&D Miniatures floor rules.
