There are several web sites out there which try to list all of the various sets and supplements for a particular game line, but I couldn't find one for Car Wars from Steve Jackson Games, so I made my own. This is only intended to cover the classic Car Wars products, not the 5th Edition products from 2002 onward.

The listing is ordered by release/copyright date. Some of the items have a links to small images of their covers. I will also have a more concise list available which is sorted by product number. Keep checking back! All items that I owned as of Apr 15 2008 have a small mark () next to them.

I had to make guesses at the details of some of the items, and I don't even have product numbers or copyright dates for some of them. If you have any information which could help make this a more complete database for everyone to enjoy, please contact me.

1981

7100 Car Wars (1981, Steve Jackson Games)
4" x 7" (?) ziplock bag. The original (first edition) Car Wars rules.
Help: What product number does this really have? What size ziplock bag does this have?

1982

7100 Car Wars (1982, Steve Jackson Games) Back of Pocket Box
The first Pocket Box version of the Car Wars rules. It contained the second edition of the rulebook. The Pocket Box front is identical to the 1983 version.
Help: What product number did this really have? Perhaps 1104 like the 1983 release? I've been told that there is not even a product number inside the rulebook for the 1982 version.

7101 Sunday Drivers (1982, Steve Jackson Games) Front of Pocket Box, Back of Pocket Box
Pocket Box supplement for Car Wars detailing the Fortress Town of Midville, Ohio. Includes pedestrian rules and several scenarios. Multiple editions. My second edition mentions the Truck Stop supplement. This is an expanded version of Sunday Drivers scenario from Space Gamer #51.

1983

1104 Car Wars (1983, Steve Jackson Games) Front of Pocket Box, Back of Pocket Box
Another Pocket Box version of the Car Wars rules, with a third edition rulebook. The differences between the second and third editions are discussed in ADQ 1/2.

7101 Crash City (1983, Steve Jackson Games) Front of Pocket Box
Pocket Box. This was a renamed Sunday Drivers supplement. Only the name of the front of the box changed; a small slip of paper was included which said, "...This supplement was originally released under another name." Sources tell me the name was changed because an Austin religious group protested the original name.

7102 Expansion Set #1: Extra Road Sections (1983, Steve Jackson Games) Front of sheet
4" x 7" ziplock bag containing three mapsheets with cut-out road sections and a 4" x 7" counter sheet.

Help: I'd like a cover scan.

7110 Expansion Set #3: East Midville (1983, Steve Jackson Games) Front of sheet
4" x 7" ziplock bag with maps and scenarios which continue the carnage in Midville, Ohio. In order to make sense out of this, you needed either Sunday Drivers/Crash City or Deluxe Car Wars, since they have the core info about Midville, the MONDOs, etc. Some printings (probably later printings) included the wreck counters for the original 16 car counters.

AV-1004 Auto-Duel Accessory: The Road (1985, Task Force Games)
8.5" x 11" shrinkwrapped (?) package was another generic vehicular combat playing accessory by Aaron Allston. Much like City Blocks, this provided fifteen 8" x 8" geomorphic road sections and a number of 2" x 8" sections for customization. In 1985, Automated Clearing Services went out of business and Task Force Games took over publishing this line of supplements.

1301 Car Wars Deluxe Edition (1990, Steve Jackson Games) Front of box, Back of box, Zoomed front box corner
9" x 12" box set with a different box design from the 1985 release. It came with a copy of the Car Wars Compendium Second Edition instead of the Deluxe Car Wars rulebook. A four page jump-start insert contained rules for quick play, while a four page scenario insert gave information for the included Midville maps. One source has told me that early releases of this boxed set did NOT include the scenario sheet. Lastly, it included a "Bonus Supplement (Minimum $10.00 Value)."

8.5" x 11" book with all of the weapon, accessory, and design rules up to that point, including stuff from Car Wars Tanks and Aeroduel. This did not include rules for movement and combat, so it must be used in tandem with the Second Edition Compendium.

Help: What year was this released?

1996

1301 Car Wars Deluxe Edition (1996, Steve Jackson Games) Front of Box, Back of Box
9" x 12" box set with yet another box design. This includes the fifth printing of the Car Wars Compendium Second Edition. It also includes a single Jump Start insert (which provides the description and scenarios for the Crash City maps) and a map of the Double Drum arena (originally from the Arena Book). Still in print. A second printing was released in 1998.

7142 Car Wars Compendium Second Edition (1996, Steve Jackson Games) Front cover
8.5" x 11" book. The fifth printing of this had a new cover and internal layout. It also fixed several typos, but few (if any) of the serious rules flaws.
