Goodbye MySQL....Welcome SQLite
A very interesting article posted on the
phparch
blog explains how MySQL will be debudled from PHP5. SQLive will come
as a bundled application.
On
Jeremy's
blog It came to my attention that
"If you use the PHP-MySQL
extension to build an application and you distribute that commercially, you must
buy a MySQL license. Or, if you commercially redistribute a PHP binary that is
linked with MySQL (which is most often the case if it is bundled), then you need
to buy a MySQL license." Personally, and without having studied
the legal mambo behind the MySql hybrid licensing, I am not very optimistic
about these high fees. For instance, I found a bit fuzzy for
MySQL
to ask over 2000 Euro for a 5 days training course ...read more

some of my assistants disappeared so I was left almost alone with the jabber
server crashing et all.....read more......

Real Programmers
by popular request here you go a funny and interesting definition of the
real programmer...let's start :D
We are faced today with a world in
which little old ladies can get computerized television remote
controls, 12 year old kids can blow Real Men out of the water playing
Sony Play Stations and X-Boxs, and anyone can buy and even understand
their very own Personal Computer. The Real Programmer is in danger of
becoming extinct, of being replaced by business-school students with
Windows running drag and drop programming languages like Visual
Basic! Some companies don't even understand the difference between
some network-weenie with a Microsoft or Cisco certification and a
real programmer...........

Why you shouldn't switch to a mac
There are plenty of articles like
this one from O'Reilly
or this one from
OS News
reporting the recent bashing on how-why people aren't switching to a mac. I
think that many did BUT in many cases, some people should stay with their
beloved PC. Because.....
