Why ASP sucks big time and PHP Rocks

There are a wealth of article on PHP vs ASP yet, no one was strong enough to face the crude reality: ASP sucks big time, Here's why....

I was reading this article and well, it is surely appropriate to list all the advantages of PHP like speed, price, community mysql linkage.

On the other hand, we also need to be realistic and down to earth. ASP sucks big time.

ASP Sucks because:

It's visual basic syntax:

SET foo$ = "I hate basic!"
SET i = 5

FOR 0 TO i INCREMENT 1
PRINT foo$ ; PRINT
NEXT i

EXIT
ASP makes use of a language that was dying before Microsoft managed to breathe new life into it. Visual Basic Script is the language used in ASP and was formerly used (and still is used by some developers) as a client side scripting language that was in direct competitions with JavaScript. This was back when Internet Explorer was still the #2 browser behind Netscape Navigator. During this era, JavaScript was whooping the pants of Visual Basic Script with its wide acceptance amongst Web developers.

How pathetic ?

ASP Sucks because:
Lines of code cannot be split. So your choices are obscuring indentation or hiding the code off the edge of the screen..

WTF ???

ASP Sucks because:
It's Microsoft, "Microsoft products are trash. The company should be split-up and managed by monkeys." from Amazon.com Visual Studio Review. 1000 USD for a stupid IDE where on PHP with 200 USD(Zend Studio) you rock big time.

What is even more scary is that every M$ products is directly linked with something else. You will need their crappy Windows server to run ASP garbage, buy modules, assistance and all the package.

ASP Sucks because:

You have to use the % tag. PHP uses $. Explanation

PHP Developer $ because PHP brings you good money without asking you to pay a dime if you don't want to.
ASP Developer is happy with % because % represent the percentage of his profit going to microcrap every time he's writing a piece of code (well code is a strong word...let's say...ASP mumjo jumbo).

And now, all together, repeat after me

ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
ASP sucks, don't use ASP
