The Soul of the Blues completes your lick repertoire by adding the "major" blues sound made famous by Delta bluesmen like Robert Johnson, but alive today in the music of Jonny Lang, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and countless other greats. The major blues sound adds the third, sixth, seventh and ninth notes (that's G#, C#, D# and F# in the key of E) that are left out by blues players who only know the minor blues scale, that is E, G, A, Bb, B and D. When you cop the tact of virtuoso blues players and combine the major blues notes with the minor blues notes, you adapt each of your licks to the harmony of the changing chords. You can accumulate this ability from the Soul of the Blues series. (index) (more info)

The Chording the Solo series widens your lick repertoire into the realm of chord solos. From a relatively small number of easy-to-play chords in all 12 keys, Chording the Solo creates melodic chord progressions. The chord solos in the series illustrates how to craft chord melodies that follow-the-changes and yet have a melody on the top string. Besides the sheet music and TAB with chord frames, a song-style chord chart is also provided to show the whole song at-a-glance, including its tempo, chord changes bar-by-bar with degrees in key, plus example chords with their fretboard fingerings. Each volume features 15 audio tracks for the chord solo, a song using on the chord solo, the guitar part alone and 12 Jam Mix bass/drums-only rhythm tracks, one in each musical key for practicing the chord solo or just for jamming. Sheet music uses easier-to-read rhythmic guitar tablature (TAB) plus 16 new "international" graphics: a chord chart and 15 color-coded fretboards in all playing positions. You can dazzle and delight listeners by copping a chord solo from the Chording the Solo series. (index) (more info)

The Walking the Rhythm series illustrates "walking rhythm guitar"--that is, how to seamlessly meld a walking bass line with punctuating chords. Walking rhythm guitar is the ultimate accompanyist tool for guitarists, since it allows you to fill-in for both bass and rhythm sections, like a pianist playing bass lines and chords. In essence, a walking rhythm guitar part divides up the beats so that the guitarist can play a bass line simultaneously with rhythmic chord punches (arranged by making the lowest note in each chord match the bass line). Besides the sheet music and TAB with chord frames, a song-style chord chart is also provided to show the whole song at-a-glance, including its tempo, chord changes bar-by-bar with degrees in key, plus example chords with their fretboard fingerings. Each volume features 15 audio tracks for the walking rhythm part, a song using on the walking rhythm part, the guitar part alone and 12 Jam Mix bass/drums-only rhythm tracks, one in each musical key for practicing or just for jamming. Sheet music uses easier-to-read rhythmic guitar tablature (TAB) plus 16 new "international" graphics: a chord chart and 15 color-coded fretboards in all playing positions. Instead of just strumming chords, you can sound like a whole band--bass and rhythm--when you accompany a soloist with a walking rhythm part from the Walking the Rhythm series. (index) (more info)
