Frets

A fret refers to a single note entry on a single string. Each fret can have effects applied to it that are unique to each fret such as bends, slides, ties, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and vibrato. Actions that are specific to frets are located in the Fret menu in the menu bar.

Fret Effects

Effects can be applied to a single fret by first selecting a fret number, then clicking on one of the icon buttons shown below or select the equivalent menu item from the Fret menu in the menu bar.

Vibrato Vibrato is applied to the currently selected fret.

Pull-offs
If the fret in the next event on the same string has the same fret number as the currently selected fret a tie will occur between the two notes.
If the fret in the next event on the same string has a higher fret number as the currently selected fret a hammer-on will occur.
If the fret in the next event on the same string has a lower fret number as the currently selected fret a pull-off will occur.
Slide The currently selected fret will slide up or down to the value of the fret in the next event on the same string. If no fret gets entered on the same string in the next event, or if the fret value is the same no slide will occur.
Bend Up The currently selected fret will be bent up over the duration of the event. The bend amount can be changed from the default value of 2.00 steps using the Fret->Bend x.xx Steps menu items in the menubar, or using the pulldown menu that is right below the icon for the bend buttons in the GuitarTab window. Initial bends are always set to 2 steps and can be adjusted after the bend is set.
Pre-Bend and Hold The currently selected fret will be pre-bent up and held for the duration of the event. The bend amount can be changed from the default value of 2.00 steps using the Fret->Bend x.xx Steps menu items in the menubar, or using the pulldown menu that is right below the icon for the bend buttons in the GuitarTab window. Initial bends are always set to 2 steps and can be adjusted after the bend is set.
Pre-Bend and Release The currently selected fret will be pre-bent up and released over the duration of the event. The bend amount can be changed from the default value of 2.00 steps using the Fret->Bend x.xx Steps menu items in the menubar, or using the pulldown menu that is right below the icon for the bend buttons in the GuitarTab window. Clone Right OPTION Copies the fret number and actions of the fret to the right of the currently selected fret.
Clone Left OPTION Copies the fret number and actions of the fret to the left of the currently selected fret.
Clone Above OPTION Copies the fret number and actions of the fret above the currently selected fret.
Clone Below OPTION Copies the fret number and actions of the fret below the currently selected fret.
Shift Up CTRL Shifts the currently selected fret up by on fret in value. All actions are left intact.
Shift Down CTRL Shifts the currently selected fret down by on fret in value. All actions are left intact.
Slide CMD / The currently selected fret will slide up or down to the value of the fret in the next event on the same string. If no fret gets entered on the same string in the next event, or if the fret value is the same no slide will occur.
Tie CMD T If the fret in the next event on the same string has the same fret number as the currently selected fret a tie will occur between the two notes.
If the fret in the next event on the same string has a higher fret number as the currently selected fret a hammer-on will occur.
If the fret in the next event on the same string has a lower fret number as the currently selected fret a pull-off will occur.
Vibrato CMD B Vibrato is applied to the currently selected fret.
No Bend CMD Cancels the bend on the currently selected fret if one existed. You can also click on the currently depressed bend button in the GuitarTab window to disable a bend on a selected fret.
Bend Up CMD The currently selected fret will be bent up over the duration of the event. The bend amount can be changed from the default value of 2.00 steps using the Fret->Bend x.xx Steps menu items in the menubar, or using the pulldown menu that is right below the icon for the bend buttons in the GuitarTab window. Bend xxx Steps CMD SHIFT 1-7 Sets the bend amount for the currently selected fret. If no bend was enabled, a Bend Up will be enabled, else it will modify the current bend amount for the currently selected fret. The bend amount is in steps (or frets). If the 3rd fret is bent up by and amount of 2.00 steps, it will be equivalent to bending it up to the 5th fret.
