Why stop with marriage? Eradicate any reference to happy people

I live in North Dakota. We have some pretty conservative people here. But I think North Dakotans use their minds a lot better than some in Alabama.

I have never seen a North Dakota legislator like Rep. Gerald Allen (R) from Cottondale, Alabama. He plans to introduce legislation in the next AL session to ban any book with gay characters in it from all libraries. This is the 21st century, is it not? I thought book burning was a thing of the past. Censorship is all about control, and religious nuts (yes, I think Gerald is a nut) don't want you to use your own brain. How insulting. It's like saying we are all too stupid to think for ourselves, so they will just limit what we can think about. And it's not just censorship that's a problem in Alabama. They just voted to KEEP racism and bigotry in their constitution. On Nov. 2, the people of AL had the opportunity to support amendment 2 that would remove parts of the constitution that mandates segregated schools and charges "Poll Taxes" to keep black Americans from voting. They defeated it. Huh? I guess the ignorant white masses have spoken. Like a lot of things in the last election, this defeat was propelled by a few loudmouths spreading fear. They carried out a successful campaign to dupe the Alabama citizens into thinking their taxes would go up if they voted to removed parts of their constitution that are not currently enforced. Another example of people too lazy to think for themselves.

Update: Apparently, our President thinks Mr. Allen's ideas are perfect for the rest of the country.
