Week One -- It Begins -- April 19-25, 2004 We've made a lot of progress this week. A new hole - a new foundation - and a new basement room has been poured.

Before - front Before - side Before - back Before - back - ready for digging I pulled the hosta and bulbs out from the front bed Day one - The digging begins Getting deeper Man - that's a lot of dirt And more dirt Trucking it away He's a pro with the back hoe What a mess This machine has been working overtime Day two - preparing for the footings Ah - the cement has arrived Getting the boom in place Cement is flowing Don't look so excited, dude! Our guy is moving fast The lilacs were relocated to the front yard See the bushes have been pulled out The kids love the dirt!!! Footings are all ready for the walls Left side of the front stairs Lilacs all settled in Right side of the stairs The side sidewalk has been removed for the new patio walkway Here's day 4 and 5 - frames were installed yesterday Concrete has been poured today A fence to keep the kids out Here's a view from the other side A view from the garden Oh man, there were a lot of rocks to remove I think it's ready for some top soil Day 6 - Frames have been removed We have a basement!
