Gravity Sucks

A physics lesson.

We went to La Jolla today to have breakfast with Melisa's Courseware friends at IHOP. Afterwards we went to a nice playground near Bishops School so Justin and Jillian (Megan's daughter) could play. After a long time there, and as we were getting ready to leave, Melisa went to the restroom and, because Justin protested, I was taking him to the sand area to distract him for awhile. I set him up on a 1' wall at the edge, but he spun around toward me and took a step. I almost caught him, but he slipped and slowly fell off the wall, smacking his face on his way down. I heard and/or felt the thud as his front teeth hit the cocrete. Not very hard, but it was teeth and not his head. Hitting your head that hard wouldn't be a big deal, but landing on your teeth is different. I felt sick. I still do, thinking back to that 'thud.' His teeth were still in place, but a little loose. We called our dentist just in case, and she told us what to look out for. We went to Vons to buy some popsicles to help ice his mouth, but he wouldnt have anything to do with that. We kept an eye on him and waited while he napped and toddled around at the Cove.

We were supposed to be at a christening, but couldn't make it because we were hanging out with Justin while he napped and recovered. Melisa gave away the popsicles to passersby at La Jolla Cove.

Before and after.

UPDATE: Later in the week we got an x-ray too see whether his roots and tooth buds of his permanent teeth are OK, and everything looked fine. He did, however, have enough pain all week long that we gave him ibuprofen several times. And he's been avoiding biting even soft things right in the middle.
