Poway Midland Railroad

Justin's 1st train ride.

We finally made it over to Old Poway Park for a lunch at the Hamburger Factory and a ride on the train. We've been meaning to go for a long time and it's only about 5 miles from home, but for some reason we never did. My Dad was halfway through a sandwich for lunch when the idea popped into my head and I told him about this place, and he dropped his ham on rye like a hot rock. We saddled up and headed over, had lunch near a bunch of folks from the El Cajon Harley Owner's Group, and then checked out the railroad. Justin really had a good time on the train, as you can see. He was looking around at everybody during the two laps around the park. Grampa enjoyed it too. I don't know if he ever finished that sandwich.

Afterwards, we went to WalMart for Justin supplies (Poway is WalMart country, after all), and then to Walter Andersen Nursery to pick out some plants to enhance the rock and dirt garden out front. Grammie loves gardening, so we took advantage of her consultation and even labor to improve our curb appeal. Grampa and I waited in the air-conditioned car with sleeping Justin while the Grammie went on a shopping spree on Melisa's nickel. Melisa said she was like a kid in a candy shop. She knows all the plants, and knows which ones would make sense in our yard (tolerate some neglect and use little water). Pictures to come...

PS: Happy Birthday, Great-Grams! 91 years and counting!
