Indianapolis Museum of Art

"Crossroads of American Sculpture features the works of six artists whose lives are linked by their place of birth, but more importantly, by their place in the history of 20th-century sculpture. Through the works of Indiana-born artists David Smith, George Rickey, John Chamberlain, Robert Indiana, William Wiley and Bruce Nauman, the story of a creative explosion in American sculpture can be told.
Crossroads of American Sculpture examines this remarkable period, in which artists expressed new ideas and employed new mediumsincluding industrial materials, words, found objects, photography, neon, video and live performance. The exhibition features more than 100 sculptures and 60 drawings; objects have been carefully selected to represent the entire career of each featured artist.
Crossroads of American Sculpture was organized by the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Curator of the exhibition is Holliday T. Day, IMA senior curator of contemporary art."
