"Crossroads of American Sculpture" 2000-10-14 thru 2001-01-21 Indianapolis Museum of Art "Crossroads of American Sculpture features the works of six artists whose lives are linked by their place of birth, but more importantly, by their place in the history of 20th-century sculpture. Through the works of Indiana-born artists David Smith, George Rickey, John Chamberlain, Robert Indiana, William Wiley and Bruce Nauman, the story of a creative explosion in American sculpture can be told. Crossroads of American Sculpture examines this remarkable period, in which artists expressed new ideas and employed new mediumsincluding industrial materials, words, found objects, photography, neon, video and live performance.
