In 1978 Mike, Martin & Eddie joined forces to create TELEX a mobile DJ group which played at various events from underground disco parties to entertainment affairs such as weddings and celebrations. In 1980 Martin decided to venture out on his own, initially using the same name TELEX and later changing the name to Time Sounds but at the time there was another DJ group using a similar name “Gentlemen of Time” so we continued using TELEX. At this point Marco joined Martin and working together with Xavier to create a mobile DJ large enough to compete with Los Angeles area trend setters like PEGASUS, Ultimate Crave, Infinity and Elektra. By 1981 Gilbert and Kiki joined Martin, Marco and Xavier but we could no longer use the name TELEX since the original members Mike and Eddie were complaining. So after using various temporary names, in 1982 after the movie E.T. was released we became DJ TERRESTRIAL II. At this point we had Jo’Jo’, Eddie and Ernie also join the DJ group.

A mild success with our DJ system and lighting equipment brought us some great “gigs” but just as fast it all came to and end by 1983. Too many members in DJ TERRESTRIAL II means too many conflicts and for us Martin, Xavier, Marco and Jo’Jo meant another group split. Bad reputation from members that left in bad terms meant a change in our DJ name. With a line-up of parties, dates and events looming over us we decided to use the name TIME.

ABOUT THE TIME LOGO - Martin sketched the letters TIME on a napkin with the "T" going over the "IME" , he dotted the "I" with a clock. He gave me the drawing and asked me to "fine-tune" it. I redesigned the logo to have the "T" going over the "IME" but then I decided to make the words "TIME" slant up (indicating that we would be rising), I decided to make the logo into a box shape, so I added triangles (to indicate strong and solid like a pyramid). Inside the top triangle I added the "clock" with the actual time that the logo was designed. 11 pm at night, we actually used to request to be put on the mixing schedule at that time. Since I created the final logo as it is today, I own the copyrights to the illustration. I also own the name "Time Sounds & Lighting", "DJ TIME", "Marco DJ TIME" and "Marco TIME". Currently I am protecting the name and the TIME reputation, allowing only Xavier and Martin exclusive rights to use the name and logo. There should be no one using the name or logo unless permitted by the original members.

At this point we were hired to be the house DJ for a night club called "New Tops Mite Club". Our equipment converted this restaurant bar into a discotheque, we had enough equipment to do parties and also to leave at the club. These were fun times for us since the owner picked us up with his limo and took us to the private parties that hired us (Weddings, Presentations, etc.). Someone broke into "New Tops Mite Club" and stole part of our equipment that we used to leave there - so once this happened we ended our night club venture.

We agreed to stay away from promoting underground parties and focus on private parties. But as the walking DJs became popular (DJs that don’t have any equipment but carry records in boxes) we served as a rental hub to everyone. Our DJ equipment was used in various underground parties in Los Angeles including places like Casa Camino Real, El Palacio, Alexandria, Brandi’s, Pico Rivera Sports Arena, Ukrainian Hall, C.S.O. Hall, Paramount Ball Room, Plaza Jamay, Kennedy Hall, Carpenters Hall, All Nations Hall, American Legions and dozen other places. In 1984 Martin left the DJ while he joined PEGASUS DJ in San Francisco (Not related to L.A.'s Pegasus). At this point Allie also joined us.

By 1986 Marco left the DJ but his brother Jose joined. Then in 1987 Jose joined with Jose Louis to create BERMUDA which lasted until 1989 -when Jose left to live in Colorado state. At around this time Xavier returned DJ Time to focus on private parties. In 1988 Marco married his beautiful lovely wife Elaine and finally sold most of his record collection. Soon Martin went solo to focus on BLACK ROSE ENTERTAINMENT in Northern California. Allie started his own DJ EXODIUS which lasted until 2004.

Xavier continued DJ TIME with private parties (Weddings, Celebrations, etc.). In early 2006 Marco reunited with Xavier to bring Time Sounds and Lighting back to the party scene. Along with friend Al "Musique Soliel" Huerta and backed by the promoters at BacktoDisco.com we are back in business here in Southern California. In Northern California Martin, Cuco and DJ Black under the flag of Klub Martini is promoting DJ TIME there.

RECENT UPDATE: Jaramillo Entertainment Group has been keeping DJ TIME busy with events at the Whittier Radisson.

"Time Sounds & Lighting", "DJ TIME", "Marco DJ TIME" and "Marco TIME" are owned names by Marco Casarrubias. Time Sounds & Lighting is registered under Los Angeles County as a DBA, it is also registered as a corporation in the State of California. The TIME LOGO is registered and copyrights owned by Marco Casarrubias. The name, logo or entity can not be used without permission. Legal action will be taken to protect the name and logo from fraud use or illigal use or bad advertisement. All rights reserved.
