Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Lehmann (CFW) was born in Bethany, South
Australia on 9 February 1856. His parents were Johann Gottlieb Lehmann and
Karoline Sophie Amalie (nee Lemm).
He attenteed the Schoenborn school [1]. On 25 February 1881 he
married Bertha Amalie Ahrens in the Lutheran Church at Bethany.
Amalie Bertha Ahrens (Bertha) was born on 21 September 1857 at Angas Park (Vine Vale), the eighth child of Heinrich Ahrens
and Sophie Amalie (nee Thomas). She was baptized at Bethany on
30 September 1857. Her godparents were Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Mattner, Eleonore Frost and Gottliebe Nelson.
CFW and his brother Johannes Gottlieb are known to have farmed a property near Rhynie, north of Kapunda [1].
The old Ahrens house at Vine Vale and approximately 160 acres
of arable land passed to CFW and Bertha on the death of Bertha's father
in 1884.
CFW and Bertha had a family of nine: Wilhelm Conrad (1882), Paul Gerhard (1884), Carl Martin (1886), Georg Philipp (1888), Franz Julius (1890), Ludwig Hermann (1893), Sophie Amalie (1895), Emmile Wilhelmine (1896) and Louise Bertha (1899). All were born at Vine Vale (South Angas Park).
CFW served two terms as representative for Vine Vale on the Tanunda Coucil [1].
Bertha died 23 May 1928 at Vine Vale. CFW died
12 August 1932. Both are buried in the Bethany Pioneer cemetary in Basedow Rd,
Bethany.
