CSUMB Content Management System

portfolio screen

Client: California State University, Monterey Bay

Project Manager: Greg Pool

Environment: Microsoft IIS, Apache Tomcat, XML, XSL

Live site: CSUMB.EDU/charlotte

Notes: Starting in 2002, the university realized that many of its websites were designed well but the content was out-of-date. Recognizing that the skill set required of a Web designer/publisher was too expensive for an individual department, the Information Technology Planning & Advisory Committee recommended we move to a content management system.

The first implimentation was for the CSUMB Marketing department to raise the level of content across campus to a higher standard. One of marketing's first goals was to change the business process for how the CSUMB Catalog is constructed. I helped develop the way we build workflow and include the efforts of over 100 members of the university staff, such that the catalog is now the most official and up-to-date document available at CSUMB.EDU.

This was the pinnacle of the unique and close relationship I forged with our Marketing Department, something unusual at most universities.
