Harbor View Mansion
My room at the Harbor View (Weekly) Mansion is
better than expected. In fact, it's great. I clearly got the Gaijin Suite. It's
on the 6th floor on a side without immediate neighbors. My balcony is private
too. I paid for a single but got what looks like a double--two separate rooms
with two beds, a desk, TV (but no cable, so the programs are limited), video,
and a kitchen that's set up with a frig, microwave, toaster, gas stove, coffee
maker, rice cooker, pots, pans, plates, cups, bowls, etc. I even have a washing
machine on the balcony, which means I save on coin laundry costs. The location
is very convenient too--a few minutes walk to the 24 hour booze-selling
supermarket, about 10 minutes to Kokusai dôri and the prefectural offices.
And I'm just across the way from the Naha Baptist Church (above), which makes me
feel right at home in Nashville. If I had broadband internet my place would be
perfect. I actually miss news of the Cubs, who are in the midst of a series with
the Cardinals. The local papers only carry news of the MLB teams that Japanese
are on. So, there was a brief piece on the sports news just now about a timely
hit that Taguchi got against the Cubs (who seem to have lost 10-9).
