Suicide Bombers for Christ
Bush's Evangelical base (and no doubt Bush
himself) would like nothing better than to institute a theocracy (as "God's
Kingdom on Earth"). They have lost all sight (if they ever had any) of what a
democracy is supposed to be as a political system the goals of which include
social equality and tolerance of diverse views and beliefs. And they twist and
pervert and cherry-pick the teachings of Christ to suit their own twisted,
perverted, cultish lunatic vision of the world. In the process, they have
mobilized to self-righteously shove their narrow-minded, fanatical, and, IMHO,
suicidal beliefs down the throats of all Americans. Yesterday Bush called on all
Americans to join him in working for America's future. Count me out, Mr. Bush. I
will never, ever, support you and your policies as long as you count crazies
(and the soulless superrich) as your base and insist that God is guiding your
actions. You're supposed to be the President, not the theocratic cult leader
that you've become. As far as I'm concerned, you are the Anti-Christ (which I'm
sure also fits into the bizzarro theology of Evangelicals). The irony of all
this is that the radical Christian Right has more in common with the kind of
Islamic fundamentalism flourishing is places like Iran and among Jihad-driven
terrorists. They are, in effect, Suicide Bombers for Christ.
