W the Dumbass Egads--two weeks without an entry. What the hell
have I been doing? Mostly watching baseball playoffs (Go Red Sox!) and obsessing
over this accursed election. I can't stand the waiting any more; let's get this
thing over with and boot W back to Crawford. Even the editors of The American
Conservative are sick of W. The magazine opted not to endorse a candidate and
instead had their editors write rants against W. One even reluctantly endorsed Kerry . It's actually worth reading
all of the rants from these conservatives to
get a sense of how pissed off normal, thoughtful, conservative Republicans are
at W. So that begs the question: who in the hell in their right mind would ever
vote for the W the Dumbass? Answer: the radical Christian right, led by raging
evangelicals (i.e., many of my neighbors here in the Bible Belt); the super rich
who benefit from W's idiotic tax cuts; anti-choice folks (radical Christian
right or not); lazy, ignorant people who don't have a clue; and outright stupid
people. Yes, there is a clear "education gap " between Kerry supporters and W
supporters. In short, any thinking person will vote for Kerry (or at least, like
those above-mentioned editors at The American Conservative, not vote for W), so
W's only real strategy to attract votes is to go after the dumb and dumber vote.
And he's real good at that--has all the credentials for it. Add to a history of
poor school and work performance a fake Texas accent and garbled English, and W
sews up the dumb vote 100%. That's why I was thinking about a little sabotage
directed at all those obnoxious "W the President" stickers. I was going to
design a little sticker that says "Dumbass" in the proper size and font which I
would then place over the "President" on the stickers on cars of unsuspecting
owners. At least then those stickers would be truthful. (I did see two "W the
Letter" stickers this week).
