Virus II

If, as Laurie Anderson says, language is a virus, then our home is the Tower of Babel right now. Ruth got today what Safa had Sunday. I'm waiting in anticipation of this invisible invasion of my body (stomach, to be exact). This is the worst timing possible—we leave on a 9:15AM flight tomorrow to the AAS conference in San Diego. Ruth's presentation is tomorrow night. Mine is early Friday morning. We actually fly into Ontario International Airport to drop Safa off with my folks and then we're driving the two hours down to San Diego. If I'm sick too, we're sunk. I don't know how we'll be able to manage transportation if both adults are down with this virus. And our presentations? They could be reduced to pure babble.
