Dead Deer

When I whiffed that tell-tale smell out front I knew whatever rotting carcass it emanated from must have been pretty big. Fortunately, it didn't seem to come from our yard (like last summer when something died under our porch). It was a deer in the roadside ditch in front of our neighbor's house. Ruth had seen buzzards flocking around it earlier. Soon after, an old guy with a truck that had a kind of septic-tank back on it came to dispose of the corpse. He slapped on some gloves and mask, arranged a pulley system on the truck, grabbed the dead deer, flipped a switch, and the poked the thing into the hole in the truck. Awesome. We were trying to guess if there's any kind of processing of the carcass while in the back of the truck. It had that kind of look.
