Omission Accomplished

So, the woman, Tami Silicio, who took this now famous photo was fired (along with her husband) for taking it. It was against "company policy" and is supposedly against military regulations to take such photos "out of sensitivity to the families of the fallen." Yeah, right, Since when did this Administration give a shit about the bereaved family members. How many funerals has Bush attended? Wolfowitz didn't even know how many American war dead there were when asked the other day--he was 30% lower. It took me 2 seconds to find reliable numbers online. Bush's distance from the war dead, Wolfie's ignorance and downplaying of the number of war dead, and censorship of innocent photos like this (I mean, c'mon, it's not like a photo of mangled American body parts after a RPG attack in Baghdad. Puhleeeze) all add up to deceit and lying by omission. Land of the free? Think again. By the way, the best way to counter the suppression of images like this is to nominate them for Pulitzer Prizes. Or get them released through the Freedom of Information Act, like Russ Kick, author of the Memory Hole website, did. Note that Kick's request was first denied, but, darn it, the government ultimately had to comply. You can see what they released to him here. I bet Bush & Co. must absolutely hate the Freedom of Information Act as they suppress civil rights with their misnamed Patriot Act.
