Common Adventure Bulletin Board started
I want to acknowledge the stimulating
conversation I had this past weekend with "H"Hilbert. Our memories of the
amazing outcomes which resulted from the Common Adventure Bulletin Boards at the
University of Oregon and Idaho State University Outdoor Programs during the late
1960's and 1970s stimulated me to initiate a Common Adventure Bulletin Board.

There are many other Common Adventure
programs all over the country that are still promoting this concept. These
programs have demonstrated the potential for an enormous positive effect on the
University and local communities where they
exist.
In the past few years, I
have discovered that there are many new discussion groups using the same
concept, but organized via the Internet instead of through an existing
program.
Starting in 1985, with
the advent of personal computers, electronic bulletin boards, and the Internet,
some of us have been promoting a broader use of the Common Adventure Bulletin
Board idea. I believe the time is right to start sharing this working philosphy
with a much larger group of people who use the Internet in North America, and
possibly in other parts of the
world.
As noted earlier, I have
been doing research on Internet groups who seem to operate with the Common
Adventure philosophy and I will post some of my findings in future messages on
the Common Adventure Bulletin
Board.
