This video features the three "Rivington School"
galleries, in the early days, before the Rivington scene
became known as the "School." Fred Bertucci, aka Freddy
the Dreamer, is featured, checking out his Freddy the
Dreamer gallery, the No Se No basement, No Se No
storefront, and the sculpture garden. Casa Nada is the
storefront on the left, with Cowboy Ray Kelly's rainbow
making circular sculpture (which could shoot out water,
with a beam of light, thus producing rainbows) chained to
the front, with the entrance to the basement club in
front of the Nada. This is the sculpture garden before
the metal sculptors began their work there. This is
immediately after Jim C. planted Sue Strande's cattle
bones in the lot. In this video segment we see the art
that appeared on the walls of the lot, after the bone
sculptures were put there. Remnants of the bone
sculptures are also seen, as Fred traverses the litter
strewn wasteland that was to become the Rivington School
sculpture garden. This video was shot in the fall of
1984, about a year before the Rivington School,
predominantly metal sculpture, began to take root in
1985.
