Robert Parker was one of the artists who was essential to
the Rivington scene. This video features a work that was
done for Colin DeLand's gallery, American Fine Arts
(previously Vox Populi). It shows Parker with a circular
saw and torch cutting into an abandoned checker cab.
DeLand appears briefly, asking for Parker. Robert's
sculpture was shown at Colin's gallery, in tandem with
this video by Jim C. in 1985. The cab was later hauled
down to Rivington Street by Cowboy Ray Kelly and Parker,
where it became the first metal sculpture of the
Rivington Street sculpture garden, a central location for
the Rivington School artists and others.
