Mission Our mission is to empower Lost Boys & Girls to create peace and education in Southern Sudan and to connect people in Southern Sudan with friends in the United States, sharing wealth, benefits, power, and ideas across the globe. Vision Education Every child in Southern Sudan has access to quality education preparing them to enter the world competitively. Leadership The children of Southern Sudan emerge as successful and compassionate leaders in their families, communities, nation, and the world. Peacemaking The children of Southern Sudan utilize effective and peaceful methods for resolving conflicts. Sports & recreation The children of Southern Sudan have the right and freedom to play and explore in safety. Objectives Provide basic education supplies to children in Southern Sudan, specifically in Bor South construct a permanent school compound including classrooms, dormitories, a library, and sports facilities for primary, secondary, and pre-school. Raise global awareness of Sudan’s history and current issues through educational forums and fundraising. Maintain international awareness of the Sudan peace process to ensure a lasting peace for all of Sudan including a successful resolution to the genocide in Darfur. collaborate with Sudanese Diaspora to conduct leadership and peacemaking training for local leadership facilitate adult education including mother-tongue and English literacy and vocational training for village adult population work with local programs to conduct gender equality programs including micro enterprise for local women conduct HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention training Sustainability Our vision for these projects is to create a long-lasting and sustained partnership that is mutually-beneficial for the people of Southern Sudan and the United States. We have contacts within the Government of Southern Sudan and will create an alliance with this government to ensure that our projects are supported from within the country. The backpack project is only the beginning of our long-term relationship with Southern Sudan. The boarding school demonstrates a sustained commitment to educating the people of Southern Sudan and the school will eventually be operated by local Sudanese administrators and teachers. We will also establish internship programs with universities in the US to provide opportunities for students to gain international and cross-cultural experience. Additionally, our education campaign in the United States will create “sister communities” linking the people of both countries for the purpose of cross-cultural support, education, and solidarity. Accountability Reporting We will report about our projects informally and formally. We will provide quarterly newsletters to everyone on our mailing list detailing our recent accomplishments, supplies received, and information gathered. Formally, we will generate reports accounting for supplies, monetary donations, and other donations received and a detailed description of how the donations are distributed. Distribution We will use proven methods and trusted contacts for distributing donated supplies to Southern Sudan. We are working with several organizations who have verified the trustworthiness and effectiveness of these distribution channels.
