LIVE 8 goes over 1 million in Philadelphia |
 |
 |
Today over one million people turned out in Philadelphia to watch the Live8 concert.
Performers such as Bon Jovi, the Dave Matthew's Band, Sara McLachan, Deaf Leopard, and Stevie Wonder were a few of those that performed.
The goal was not charity but justice for all humanity.
Philadelphia was one of ten concerts around the world, with others in cities such as London, Paris, Toronto, Berlin, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Rome, and Sydney.
In London U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan joined Live8 and shared that this was the U.N. the world looking out for the poor as he expresssed his appreciation for the event.
The One Campaign said over and over again at the event that unlike Live Aid of 20 years ago they were not asking for money but asking for a voice.
A voice to increase aid to Africa by 25 billion, elimination of debt, and more just trade policies.
One Campaign delegates arrived 5 hours before the concert for a rally and press conference as well as a short training on messaging.
Tomorrow we leave for Scotland for the G8 Summit
