Paris Day 2-Friday 8/27/04

I was on my own on Friday. I went via the Metro, to Basilique du Sacre Coeur and Montmartre (the artists' colony). Also did a train tour of the area...

The streets outside the Abbesses Metro station. More beautiful windows. And more stairs! Just a couple of flights to complete the climb to the basillica. The "Funicular" - a tram to the top. Detail shot. Beautiful stained glass. Montmartre shoppe. Organ street vendor. The streets of Pigalle. Only one street went up to S.C. the rest were stairs... The "place du Tertre". Where the artists hang, and paint. More art. Couldn't decide on one. Nostalgic Clos de Montmartre vineyard produces approx. 500 bottles a year. I thought it was a tomato garden... ;) Au Lapin Agile, the oldest cabaret in Paris. Caberet again. Picasso used to eat here occasionally and pay with paintings. Beautiful flowers. Ahhh.... More streets of Pigalle. Dinner that night at Bistro Ferdinand. The Arc at night. Night-time Paris from the top of the Arc. We took the elevator this time. :) Champs-Elysees, glorious!
