The fountain dances in time to
music. This is one of the most beautiful sights in Las Vegas!
NEW YORK NEW YORK-- Note the skyline, Coney Island Roller
Coaster, Statue of Liberty
NEW YORK FIREBOAT at the New York New York site. The full-sized boat
is just as one sees in newsreels when the fireboats spray water
to welcome ships into New York harbor.
PARIS LAS VEGAS
The theme is French, and the site
includes a half-sized Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomph. Even half
size is giant.
EIFFEL TOWER
The tower is imprssive by day and
night.
EXCALIBUR--King
Arthur's Palace. The place is a hangout for knights and their
steeds, damsels, Merlin, hungry dragons with sharp teeth.
ALADDIN
The Arabian Nights theme with a fabulous
display of Oil Lamps, Genies, Magic Carpets
TREASURE ISLAND. A Pirate Ship and a British man-of-war fight it out
in a lagoon in front of the hotel. Cannons roar and fire and smoke
erupt; sailors jump overboard. But the pirates win the battle
and sink the British ship, which has to be refloated in time for
the next show.
TROJAN HORSE at CAESARS PALACE
Caesars Palace is crammed with statues
of Greeks and Romans and mythical characters. We loved this huge
Trojan Horse, several stories high.
SPHINX at the Entrance to
LUXOR
The Luxor is built in the shape of
a pyramid, and the theme is Egyptian at the time of the Pharoahs.
This huge Sphinx guards the entrance. The next picture shows
a marble Sphinx inside the hotel.
SPHINX at LUXOR. This is one of the many impressive large sculptures
in Luxor.
VOLCANO at The MIRAGE
. Realistic flames and explosions fill the air,
and colored waterfalls simulate lava. A beautiful engineering
accomplishment.
MANDALAY BAY
Real class: Souh Sea Islands theme
with tropical flowers and even a sandy beach out back. The entire
outside of the hotel is gilded and visible for miles.
PORTICO at THE VENETIAN. The Venetian is our favorite hotel, one of the most
elegant, and beautifully and cleverly designed. The theme is Venice,
of course; there are spacious courtyards with curved ceilings
that look like blue sky with fluffy clouds. And there is the Grand
Canal with singing gondoliers.
VENETIAN ENTERTAINERS
The fellow on stilts is juggling, while his
normal sized pal is singing away in Italian. There is good entertainment
in the Venetian courtyards!
GRAND CANAL at the VENETIAN. Let's eat linguini at the water's edge and listen to
the gondoliers sing!
