The Dems Intertwine, The GOP Unravels
Bush has managed in his four years to come up with one staggering achievement. When I went to see Ann Richards speak last week, she said that in over 50 years of being active in the Democratic Party, she had never before seen them work more cohesively together as a group, be this fired up, and this organized. This is certainly saying something for a party that for years had been called spineless, wimpy, and lacking of vision . . . and this from its own party members.
Meanwhile, there are signs that this President is so connected to neo-conservatives
and the Christian Coalition, and his policies have been so short sighted that
the unthinkable is beginning to happen . . . from a party known for their
cohesion and singular message, disenfranchised Republicans have been speaking
out.
Now before you can say "Zell Miller," I know that there are also Democrats
who support Bush. (But like Zell Miller, most are so crazy that nobody
really wants to associate with them.) What I am talking about on the Republican
end
of things are major names, like Bob
Barr. Check out the Learn section of this site
to see the ever growing collection of "conservatives with concerns." There
is also more information on this growing trend at Republicans
For Kerry. I don't agree with their stance on many issues, but I have
a great deal of respect these Republicans who, in a lot of ways, show more
willingness to expose the truth about Bush and what is going on in the
GOP in a way that is more gutsy than the media, and even the Democrats have done.
If you are a disenfranchised
Republican who can't make the leap to vote for Kerry, but will be withholding
your vote from the Administration that has taken over your party, I salute
you and admire you! Yea, to you non voter, I hope you can get your party back soon. Just imagine a world of truly moderate Republicans and newly invigorated Democrats . . . now that would be politics worth voting for!
