| As a young man I was nourished by the artistic and political avant-gardes of the 20th century. That stopped making sense quite some time ago. Names could be dropped, but I'm afraid that they have been dropped so many times they have splintered into unrecognizable pieces and have been rendered meaningless. While my work tends to ultilize polaroid positive/negative films and early processes, I try not to let technique or equipment dictate my vison. While a technique, lens or specific camera may render a photo as interesting for a short while, the vision is what provides an image with longer term associations and meaning. My initial training was in what was then known as commercial art, after which I studied ceramics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. After leaving school I was mentored in painting, photography and film-making by Lazlo Moholy-Nagy understudy, David Aaron. In 1984 I moved to Seattle, Washington where I currently reside. My work has appeared in exhibitions, used for editorial and have been placed in institutional & private collections.
