Hi,

I notice it has been almost a year since I made my last comment.
So here some updates.

I ordered the prop a couple of week ago. It’s a three blade CS prop from MT Germany. I figured out they have 40.000 prob out there and no AD.

Ordered my engine today. It’s a Lycoming Thunderbolt engine IO-540 D4A5 with 260 hp.

Then we began to paint some panels and here is what I experienced:

The last couple of days I am painting my gear legs, the control surfaces and I want to paint the fuselage before it gets to cold.
As You might remember I have set op one of those tentgarages as a paint booth.
Temperatures here in Southern New Mexico are around 65 degree and relative humidity is around 15 %.
So I was afraid that we might run into problems.

We sprayed the UV protection and the white EKO fill primer and yes we had to try a little bit  to figure out which pressure and nozzle size worked best.
We ended up with a 1.5 nozzle and 20 psi pressure for the recommended Devilbiss spraygun.

We never got it really smooth because of the low humidity it dried very fast, but we got akzeptable result and with little sanding the surface became nice and smooth.
I ordered my stuff to long ahead so I notice a difference between what I still had and what I had ordered a couple of days before.
The new primer was much thinner and worked ways better than my old stuff. So don't order to early!!!

Then we tried to spray the topcoat and folks I must say that stuff is amazing.

Although neither of us (Wolfgang or I) have painting experience we got a shiny wet look surface without any problems.

We used the setup Steward recommends on their DVD and it worked perfect.
No problems with low humidity at all. Temperature in my paint booth tent went up to 75 to 80  degree from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM which is ideal.
My boxfan suction / filter system  system works nice and after painting is done I can keep a nice warm temperatur with the help of a little heater for another two hours. After this time I put the panels into my garage where I can keep the temperatures over night.

The paint behaves exactly as described in the manual and and even if it looks dull after the last coat , after some time you get this shiny wet look. Don't worry if it gets a strange look at some point it flattens out completely!

Having such a good experience I want to thank Steward System for the introduction of this fantastic covering and paint system and a big Thanks to Marv Haught who always answers all my questions in a blink of an eye!!!!!!

I highly recommend this system!

Georg
