Gary Gegan - background information

I am a motion picture sound effects re-recording mixer and digital graphics artist living and working in Southern California.

Although originally from Berkeley, California, I began my career in motion picture sound in Toronto, Canada as a composer/arranger and recording engineer at Skyblue Sound, a music recording studio and production company where I specialized in film and television scores in addition to popular music. After returning to California and eventually settling in the Los Angeles area I began working in other areas of post production sound - first as an ADR and Foley Mixer at JDH Sound, and later as a sound effects re-recording mixer at Skywalker Sound South, Todd AO Studios West, and Wilshire Stages. I currently work at Widget Post with my partner since 1992, dialog/music mixer Matthew Iadarola. I primarily work on feature films but also have considerable experience mixing television and cable projects.

In 1985 I bought my first MacIntosh and used the MacDraft program to help architect Jack Edwards redesign the ADR/Foley stage at JDH Sound. When Claris CAD replaced MacDraft in the late 80's I used it when working with Jack again to design the ADR and Foley stages at Skywalker Sound South (now Todd AO West). My first forays into the world of 3D graphics were made using Vectorworks to create renderings of re-recording stage designs for Todd AO Studios West. I currently use Cinema 4D in combination with Vectorworks, Photoshop and Illustrator for architectural visualizations, industrial design, website design and miscellaneous 2D and 3D graphics projects.
