Models and Animations
3D Models in dim3 are based on a powerful skeletal animation system. Bones can be rotated, moved, or enlarged/shrunk. Animations are tweened between poses, which are deformations of the bone structure. The included dim3 Animator is used to create these animations, and can import models from various formats (for example: Lightwave, Meshwork, or OBJ).

Models in dim3 can launch their own effects and lights, and animations can be controlled through scripting. Lights and halos can be attached to bones, and the collision and shadow box sizes are all editable. Animations in dim3 models have rest points, so one animation can flow perfectly into another.

dim3's optimized model drawing routines can support hundreds of models. The image above shows a civil war battle between North and South bots, totaling 140 in all, in one room! (Note: Hi-lighting has been turned on to show more of the models.)
