German Culture Center Events 2003/2004
The Meininger Puppet theatre opened a terrific season of events presented by the German Culture Center.

   

Meininger Puppet Theatre presented a unique program.
The audience sat in an inflated dome.
This was the first play in the new Touhill Performing Arts Center.
Images were projected on the walls of the inflated dome.
The projected images told of the Brave Tin Soldier.
A live ballerina joined the projected images to great effect.
The first performance was for high school students.
Students asked questions following the show.
The cast visited Kramer Marionettes, and were entertained royally.
A day to remember.
Hans Weber from the University of Wupperthal presented a workshop.
Weber has authored texts for Goethe Institut on the use of literature.
Arts Vitalis Comedy/Jazz Trio appeared at the Kulturverein
Arts Vitalis melded snippets of jazz with Dadistic comedy.
They played everything, including the kitchen sink.

Musikkapelle Röthenbach performed with Northwinds Concert Band

The German ensemble performed an eclectic concert.
The 45-piece ensemble is from a small town in Southern Germany
Alpine Horns were a big hit!
Baritone and tenor horns are featured in much German traditional music
The ensemble is directed by Oskar Bihler.
A featured work was a tone poem on the Battle of the Tirol.
The American and German bands combined forces.
Bihler and Marsh conducted over 100 musicians.
A tribute to Glenn Miller was especially well received.
